Support the Restoration of 923 Main

A Center of the Community

923 Main has been part of the life of Fitchburg for almost two centuries. It has served generations as a place for community gatherings, cultural events, meetings, performances, and shared civic life.

Today, work is underway to restore and preserve the building so it can continue serving the community in a safe, accessible, and sustainable way.

Looking Towards the Future

923 Main is a historic building that requires significant repair and restoration in order to remain fully usable for community activities.

Priorities

  • restoring community meeting and event spaces, including Phillips Hall
  • repairing aging structural and building systems
  • improving accessibility so more people can use the building safely
  • upgrading support areas such as kitchen and service spaces
  • completing infrastructure work needed for public gatherings

These improvements are essential to bringing the building back into full community use.

  • Raising funds to make the building ADA and safety compliant

  • Maximizing the use of the building's many spaces by the public

  • Stewarding the building to ensure the preservation and future utilization for charity, culture, wellness, education, and community

Accessibility Matters

Improving accessibility is a central part of this project.

Updates to the building will help ensure that more people — including seniors, families with young children, and individuals with mobility challenges — can fully participate in programs and events.

The goal is a space that is not only preserved, but genuinely usable by the community it serves.
